A multi-national company with humble origins...
One of Fuel Proof's first hire bowsers on site at Arcow Quarry, North Yorkshire
|
Fuel Proof Ltd was formed in 2000 by directors Andrew Hargreaves and Roger Pilkington and was initially based in Settle, North Yorkshire along with sister company Roll-tec Safety Ltd. The company began by hiring out fuel tanks and bowsers in the North West, and quickly expanded its hire fleet to meet the growing demand for safe, compliant fuel storage. In the first 12 months the hire fleet doubled in size to 50 tanks, and the first of Fuel Proof’s own products were designed, developed and manufactured.
In November 2001 the company relocated to a larger factory near Milnthorpe, Cumbria. With continual product development and new additions to the range of equipment, Fuel Proof quickly began to establish itself as one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of fuel storage equipment.
Early 2002 saw the introduction of the popular ‘Fuelcube’ range of tanks, which have since become one of the most successful products in the company’s range. In 2003 the ADR compliant range of tanks from 1000 to 2500 litres was introduced to meet changing legislation for the transportation of diesel on the highway. Later in the year the range of bulk tanks was launched together with a water storage range, as the company looked to gain wider market coverage. In 2004, sales increased to a new record high as the company gained a reputation for high-quality, low-cost products both in the UK and overseas. A range of aviation fuel storage equipment was introduced in early 2005 to cater for aircraft refuelling. |
In September 2005 plans were finalised on a relocation/development programme at a 5 acre site in Heysham, Lancashire. Relocation was completed in early 2006, and work began on extensive developments at the site. A new CNC plate roller was installed together with a state-of-the-art laser cutting machine. A new spray booth and oven was installed in June, followed by a new purpose built extension housing a shot blast facility and second spray booth.
In September 2007 plans were finalised for a new 25,000 sq. ft. assembly and warehouse facility. Completed in July 2008, the new facility has increased efficiency and helps us to process the large range of advanced products we now manufacture.
The company currently employs 15 office staff and 35 factory staff, and with further facility and product developments in the pipeline, the company is rapidly establishing itself as a worldwide leader in its field.
